The “R” in “R-Value” stands for Rad
Ok you got me, I lied. The “R” in R value doesn’t actually stand for rad. It stands for thermal resistance. But thermal resistance is rad and I’ll tell you why:
R-values let you know how well your home’s insulation is working. A high R-value means good insulation that prevents heat from entering or escaping from your home, helping you keep your energy bills down.
A low R-value means poor insulation, higher energy costs, and a home that has a higher carbon footprint.
When you google “r-value” you will get a whole whack of equations to help you calculate R-Value. Calculating R-values can be complex, and include a lot of math. Luckily BCollective has a team of math nerds that love to find ways to make your home as efficient as possible.
